Subject:There are just as many ways of saying goodbye
Time:11:16 pm

The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

--Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

Kevin A. González: 1999

We were driving to your funeral
& our father was not crying
because he has a way
of tying ribbons around grief.
It was the year we learned
the piercing that prefaces the blood
holds the most delicate of darknesses.
Then it was the year we opened
all our faucets & waited for the sea
to bleed to death. Then it was the year
we set fire to your mitt. Then, suddenly
the year we started to believe
every thorn was just a bridge.
Then the year all we talked about
was boxing. Then the year
my stomach hurt all year, & then
the year no one spoke of you.

If there were an antonym for suicide
we could all choose when to be born.
I would have been born after that day
so I could not remember you.
So my fingers would stop pointing
at all the things that aren’t there

Rather silly...but supposedly  fairly accurate (at least according to what some of my R.L. friends have assured me :))

How many Arians does it take to change a lightbulb?
  • None. Arians aren't afraid of the dark.

How many Tauruses does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • None; Tauruses never want to change anything..

How many Geminis does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • Two (of course) but it will take all week, and when they're done the lightbulb will do your homework, speak French, and shine any color you want it to.
How many Cancerians does it take to change a lightbulb?
  • Just one, but it takes a therapist three years to help them through the grieving process.

How many Leos does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • None: Leos are so enthusiastic they carry their own light.

How many Virgos does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • Virgos don't have time to change their own lightbulbs, they're too busy changing them for everyone else.

How many Libras does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • Well gee, I don't know really. I guess it depends on the bulb, and where it burned out. It might perhaps just take one if it's just an ordinary bulb, or maybe two if the person doesn't know where to find a new bulb, or....

How many Scorpios does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • That information is strictly secret and only shared with the inner members of the hierarchical order.

How many Sagittarians does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got out whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out lightbulb?

How many Capricorns does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • None. Capricorns can't afford new lightbulbs -- unless they're a legitimate business expense.

How many Aquarians does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • A hundred, but they'll all be competing to be the one to change the bulb and bring light into the world.

How many Pisceans does it take to change a lightbulb?

  • Huh? The light's out?

Actually there are more than one version, but this is the one I personally like best ;)

So, "True Blood  series has finally landed in Italy.
I missed last week first episode, R.L. being sometimes more engaging than anything going on Empty.tv, believe or not...( even if Isa deems
that rather impossible.... )
Then yesterday I set out to watch the second chapter, at least...
But Chance, wisely I must tell, decided that just yesterday I were to find in the mail last Storm Costantine and Wendy Darling enchanting
collection of stories, just hot off the press.....

Alas, really there was no match....True Blood lost...
I didn't manage it more than twenty minutes, then the siren's call made me turn off the tv and switch on the lamp on the coffe table near the
couch, plunging myself in Wraeththudom...
Still, there are alternative universes quite impossible to defeat...at least for me ;)

The dying sun glares in our faces
And the wind will be colder tonight
The winding road traces far lonlier places,
Wandering away from the light

We are trading complacency's comfort
For the challenge of finding new ways
But familiar voices that question our choices
Whisper, and wish us to stay

So we pause for a time on the summit
And regard, in the westering glow
All the green and the blue, and the shallow and true
Of the lives we had both come to know

And this comfort we offer behind us:
Though absent, we do not forget
And though distance may part, with a sting in the heart,
You have given us little regret.

For things that might be are but shadows
And rememberance is weathering stone
And the lonely may strive to create them a tribe,
But inside of our skins, we're alone.

Still, the stone of my memory is painted
In Angels of shimmering hue
And their eyes and their smiles, and their stories and styles
Look exactly like each one of you.

I will now give the sunset my shoulder
And take the cool twilight in hand
Set my wings in a glide and entrust that the tide
Leave me standing wherever I land

For Life's not about destinations
And you cannot guess Destiny's hand
So you laugh, and you cry, until one day you die
And then we might all understand.

To define him just "charming" seems almost an insult....
(I almost thanked all the Gods I know - and they are many - when another actor got  that Twilight role...
What a sacrilege it would have been!...)

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

A fascinating film, visually stunning and impressively sophisticated in the manner in which is told.
A very original human drama, that looks deeply into the kind of close relationship between brothers that you don't see in many other films.

Micha Wald only had some forests, fields and rivers to film in, yet he managed to create a powerful piece, intensely visual, drawing excellent performances from his young cast of beautiful actors.
The dialogue is kept to the minimum, just essential, yet it is amazing just how much emotion can be conveyed by simple looks from the actors, a superb cinematography and an haunting musical soundtrack.
The movie takes us in the wilderness of Eastern Europe, back in the nineteenth century, when Cossacks stormed across the countryside, pillaging villages and slaughtering innocent civilians.
The path of two pairs of brothers (Jakub and Vladimir, Roman and Elias) will cross and their destinies collide with disastrous results due to the theft of horses.

During this event, Vlad, the younger brother of Jakub, who seeked to escape poverty and hunger joining the Cossacks and convinced his much more fragile brother to do the same - realizing very soon that being a Cossack is pretty nasty business- is killed and Jakub, consumed by revenge, begins a vengeful manhunt.
The whole movie now precipitates towards a devastating finale, and then on to a reconciliation that is surprising and amazingly beautiful.
The narration is literaly in style and the film is divided into three chapters, "him", "Them" and "Us".
Shot in a cold light as to emphasize the confrontation, the crimes and the vendetta,
the film tells a story that is subtle and touching, like an epic drama of old.

As much as I'd like to convince myself of the contrary, this is a story of brotherly love, not man-on-man love.
There is surely an homoerotic appeal in it, but this film has much more to offer than just masculine eye candy.

By the way...last night Isa convinced me to watch Hayao Miyazaki's "Howl's Moving Castle"
...excellent taste, Little Turtle! :)
